I am also weary about Google snooping and etc. With all this being said, I have to wonder how truly secure it is other than the 2FA on my Google account. I don't seem to have any issues and it's extremely easy to use from a web browser. There's some noticeable lag, but it's not awful and everything is totally usable. On the other hand the free Chrome Remote Desktop program/service is pretty fantastic. Both the desktop application and the online one seem to perform the same. It sucks and it even seems to lack some features, or at least doesn't make them easily accessible, like setting a resolution that corresponds to my work computer in full screen. I read that RemotePC is supposed to be one the absolute best remote access clients and I tried it with the trial but it is SLOW. My internet speeds both at home and work are fine, but not gigabit. I have plans to branch out into learning more about running servers as well and may use my desktop to RDP into say a Windows Server instance on my secondary PC. I'm toying with GoAnywhere MFT and learning how to use SQL and databases along with other similar things. Let me know if I'm in the wrong place here but I'm using a remote client from work to connect to my home desktop where I then am accessing a VM to play with work related things. r/HomeNetworking - Simpler networking advice. r/pfsense - for all things pfsense ('nix firewall) Might be able to find things useful for a lab. r/hardwareswap - Used hardware, swap hardware.
